The National's 500 acres was originally scheduled to be part of Bellera Walk, a Divosta community that began construction in 2007, but due to poor home sales at the time, the 500 acres sat empty until Lennar purchased the land started developing the property in 2020. As with other similar communities, the priority was to get the golf course built and open, as the main feature and to get the new home sales moving.
The Gordon Lewis designed National golf course opened in January 2021. Initially, as with any new bundled golf community, the golf course is open to the public, as there are not enough owners to support the operations of an 18 hole golf club. Owner get tee time priority before the public can make tee times. During the winter months, tee times have been completely booked. A clear indication of how desirable the National golf course is to owners and local public players.
Once all the bundled golf homes are sold, control of the Golf Club
turns over to the owners from the builder. Once that happens, public play options will be eliminated.
